The brief
Make a logo, for internal use, for a division of Lloyds Bank that focuses on the North of England. You could consider using a  Northern landmark or something similar.
My idea
Initially, I experimented with different landmarks such as Blackpool Tower and the Angel of the North. However, it was very difficult to  find one landmark that portrayed the whole of the North of England. I decided to look at it from a different angle and thought about creating a compass that is pointing to the North. I presented a variety of options including the landmarks mentioned above to Lloyds and they thought the compass was very original and clearly represented the North. This logo is now being used internally within the bank. The compass design has been incorporated by the bank, onto promotional materials such as: note books, pens and lanyards.
Below are some of the experiments I tried.
